Peterbilt Evolution (1939 - 2023)

The Peterbilt name started in 1939 and has focused on creating purposefully built vehicles ever since. The company is a subsidiary of Paccar.

Theodore Alfred Peterman had the vision, so he began the company in the great Pacific Northwest. They first released a lightweight yet all-steel cab truck and a chain-drive model, both major innovations for the industry.

World War II was also a big influence on the company. From its inception through 1945 Peterbilt trucks became a staple for U.S. military service personnel.

Peterbilt trucks are identified by a large red-oval brand emblem, in use since 1953.The company also uses a "bird"-style hood ornament on conventional-cab trucks, in use since 1965.

In 2019, the company celebrated its 80th year, honoring its many incredible advancements and continued focus on craftsmanship. They continue to create new designs and innovations today.
